David awoke on the morning of his 29 th birthday and knew he was going to become an artist. If asked directly, he will smile and say,
“God told me to paint, so I did”.
Originally, David thought painting wasn't an option as a means of making a living. So instead of art school, at the age of 18, he chooses to gain his experience working in construction. He proceeded to teach himself a wide variety of skills and eventually became a general contractor with his own construction company. After 10 years of running a successful business he decided to embark on his quest for creative expression.
With his imaginative style, bold use of color and dramatic perspective, David brings a fresh new look to the art world. His skill at capturing movement and animation in his art is a direct reflection of his own lifestyle and view of the world.
While David is always interested in being absorbed by the moment, he is also constantly focusing his seemingly endless passion on reinventing his style.
“I feel like I'm putting a puzzle together. I paint the pieces of that puzzle, but even I do not always know what will be seen in the end”.
David currently owns his own gallery in Cannon Beach , Oregon where he also lives and paints. While painting is by far his passion, he also enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife, Molly, and friends riding bikes, playing tennis, surfing, golfing or just walking the beach. Modern Villa Gallery showcases his own work and the work of 5 other artists. A second location of Modern Villa Gallery will be opening in July 2006 in Tacoma , Washington on The Foss Waterway, right next to the Museum of Glass . You can also find more artwork from Modern Villa Gallery for sale in the lobby of the Surfsand Hotel and Resort in Cannon Beach .
The only people for me are the mad ones,
The ones who are mad
to live, mad to talk,
Mad to be saved, desirous of everything at
The same time, the ones who never
say a
Commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn,
Like fabulous yellow roman candles
Exploding like spiders across the stars…..
