Bio

Yvonne Mora was born in 1959 in Lima, Peru, where she graduated with honors from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1985.  In 1986 she won the Seruolo Gutierrez prize, and was soon involved in numerous collective and solo exhibitions in Peru and other South American countries, as well as in Japan and the United States.

Mora considers herself an expressionist painter, strongly influenced by various masters.   She mentions Cezanne, Picasso, vanGogh and Sorolla.  She also feels that her travels to Japan and to the United States have enriched her painting, allowing her to transcend the barriers of regional expression.

She paints with a secure spontaneity, full of color, light and life, inspired by her simple, multi-cultural surroundings:  outdoor markets, lively sidewalk cafes and neighborhood jazz clubs.  She has exhibited her works in Japan, South America and the USA.
